Inpathy FAQ

What is Inpathy?

At Inpathy, our mission is to increase access to high quality, affordable psychiatric, behavioral and mental health care through convenient, online video calls. We help make a difference in people’s lives by connecting them with licensed professional therapists, counselors and psychiatry providers.

Our providers see individuals and families anytime and anywhere through safe, confidential and HIPAA-compliant online video calls made in real-time from a smartphone, tablet or computer equipped with a webcam. No special equipment, software or app downloads are needed. Online therapy sessions allow behavioral health care providers to meet individuals where they are — at home, at work or in the community — making it both easier and more affordable to get needed care.

Inpathy is a division of InSight, the leading national telepsychiatry service provider organization with nearly two decades of experience delivering online behavioral health care safely and securely.

What is online psychiatry and therapy?

Online psychiatry is the delivery of mental and behavioral health care services over the internet through secure video calls. It’s also sometimes called telemental health care, telepsychiatry, distance therapy, etherapy, telebehavioral health or simply telehealth.

Inpathy makes it easier to get the help you need, when and where it works for you, through convenient, online live video sessions with licensed therapy and psychiatry providers from your computer, smartphone or tablet.

Behavioral health providers who offer online sessions include counselors, therapists, social workers, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners with special training in psychiatry.

Why online psychiatry?

There are many reasons people prefer online therapy and/or psychiatry services.

  1. It’s convenient: Be seen when and where it works for you without the hassle of taking time off work or sitting in waiting rooms. Our providers often have next-day appointments and are available evenings and weekends
  2. Provides options: Find the right provider who fits your needs and preferences — whether or not they live in your community. Access licensed counselors, therapists and psychiatry providers who are licensed in your state.
  3. Safe and secure: Unlike Skype or FaceTime, our technology is HIPAA-compliant and protects your personal information.
  4. Completely private: Your session on Inpathy is strictly confidential. Inpathy sessions are never recorded and you have control over whether you invite family or friends to join your online video call.
  5. Easy to use: Inpathy works on any computer, tablet or smartphone with internet and a webcam. Plus, we offer 24/7 support for tech issues, test calls and troubleshooting.
  6. Flexible scheduling: Weekdays a no-go? Need to do a session after the kids go to bed? No problem. Appointments are available 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. — and it often only takes a few days from your request before you can meet with a provider.

How do online psychiatry and therapy sessions work?

Getting started is easy. Once you sign up, you can find a provider by searching our online directory and then book an appointment. You can use the tools within Inpathy to securely message a provider, submit intake forms, do a test call or access additional technical or administrative support. When it’s time for your session, you’ll need to be in a private space with a tablet, smartphone or computer with a web camera to log in for your session. You and your provider will be able to see and hear each other throughout the appointment.

After your session, your provider will charge your credit card for the amount you owe and Inpathy will automatically submit a bill to your insurance company, if applicable.

What technology do I need to use Inpathy?

Most people already have access to the tools they need to connect to a provider through Inpathy. Individuals can access sessions using computers, tablets or smartphones equipped with webcams. No special equipment, software or app downloads are needed.

Is Inpathy secure and HIPAA compliant?
Absolutely. Inpathy meets the privacy and confidentiality standards set by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996. Our technology is equipped to ensure that your personal information including your history, medical records and treatment are protected and secure.

How you pay for sessions on Inpathy vary based on your insurance, the type of provider you will be seeing and what service you are looking for.
