James R. Varrell, M.D.
Medical Director

James R. Varrell, M.D. is the President and Medical Director of the CFG Health Network and InSight Telepsychiatry. Dr. Varrell is American Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified in American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a specialty in autism. Dr. Varrell has been at the forefront of telepsychiatry across the nation and continues to educate the medical community regarding the benefits of telepsychiatry through various presentations and forums as a panelist and presenter. Recent presentations have included engagements with the American Psychiatric Association, the National Rural Health Association, the American Telemedicine Association, and multiple Grand Rounds presentations. Dr. Varrell preformed the nation’s first involuntary psychiatric commitment via a televideo unit in 1999. Today, Dr. Varrell still regularly performs telepsychiatry evaluations and manages a staff of telepsychiatrists who see and treat individuals in 26 states.

Associate Medical Director of CFG

Maasi Shamilov, M.D. is the Associate Medical Director of the CFG Health Network. Dr. Shamilov American Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and certified in American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Shamilov has been with the CFG Health Network since its founding in 1997 and has been regularly preforming psychiatric evaluations via telepsychiatry in a variety of settings since 1999.

Associate Medical Director of On-Demand Services

Mark Alter, M.D. is InSight’s Associate Medical Director of On-Demand Services.  In addition to regularly practicing on-demand telepsychiatry, Dr. Alter manages InSight’s team of on-demand telepsychiatrists and guides them in telemedicine and industry best practice. Dr. Alter is board certified in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is also a principal investigator with the department of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. With more than 14 years of clinical practice in behavioral health and affiliations with over ten medical facilities, Alter brings a wide range of experience to InSight.

 

Jonathan NehrerJonathan Nehrer, M.D.
Associate Medical Director of Scheduled Services

Jonathan Nehrer, M.D. is InSight’s Associate Medical Director of Scheduled Services. Dr. Nehrer manages InSight’s team of scheduled telepsychiatrists and guides them in telemedicine and industry best practices, in addition to regularly seeing consumers via telepsychiatry. Dr. Nehrer is board certified in both psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry. He has worked in academic, community, private practice and telepsychiatry settings throughout his professional career and balances his treatment with psychodynamics, medication management, and a combination of different therapy styles.
